March 12, 2016Recipe for a Blissful Marriage
INGREDIENTS:
- Piety (obedience and fear of Allāh).
- Mubārak Sunnāh of Nabi Muhammad (Sallallāhu ‘alayhi wasallam)
- Love
- Loyalty
- Understanding
- Friendship
- Contentedness
- Forbearance
- Intimacy
- Affection
- Smiles
- Compliments
- Forgiveness
- Gifts
- Pleasant Surprises
- Fragrances
- Last, but not least, Zikr, Du’ās and Sadaqāh
DIRECTIONS
- To the combination of piety (obedience and fear of Allāh) and Sunnāh, add a lavish amount of love blended together with loyalty.
- Stir the mixture well with a spoon of friendship and understanding.
- To get the maximum flavour from your dish, season it well with contentedness and forbearance.
- Heat the mixture gently with the warmth of intimacy and affection. Remember, this heating has to be consistent and continuous, never let this dish cool down.
- Keep on adding constantly to the dish a mixture of smiles, compliments, Salāms and warm welcomes, all blended with sincerity and trustworthiness.
- To make the dish more pleasant and spicy, add humour to it (within the Shariāh).
- Sprinkle the dish with a mixture of occasional gifts and some pleasant surprises.
- Garnish it with forgiveness.
- This dish has to be prepared by both, the husband as well as the wife, and also, it has to be served and devoured in each other’s sweet company.
- To retain the freshness of the dish put on sweet fragrances. This would also make your married life even more sparkling and tempting.
- While the dish is being prepared do not forget a few very special ingredients: Zikr of Allāh (plus Durood on Nabi Muhammad Sallallāhu ‘alayhi wasallam and Istighfār] and also Du’ās. Without Allāh’s Help and Mercy no true success can be achieved. Also, remember to give Sadaqāh on regular basis to have Barakāh in your married life.
INGREDIENTS TO BE AVOIDED
- A number of spouses add some unworthy ingredients that make the dish bland, tasteless or even bitter. Some of these ingredients are anger, shouting, unkind words, swearing and sarcasm.
- The ingredients of late-nights, bad character, pornography and infidelity can bring the dish to the very brink of turning sour.
- The most dangerous thing in a marriage, however, is the utterance of the word ‘Divorce’. It can actually act as a ‘poison’ for this dish. Islām disapproves of divorce and in this connection it has cautioned its followers to be very careful.
A COUPLE OF ĀHADITH
For the husband:
Abu Hurairāh Radhiyallāhu ‘Anhu narrates that Rasulullāh Sallallāhu ‘Alayhi Wa Sallam said:
“The most perfect amongst the believers in faith is one who has the best manners; and best of you are those who are best to their wives.”(Musnad Ahmad)
For the wife:
Sayyidātunā Ummu Salamāh Radhiyallāhu ‘Anhā says that Rasulullāh Sallallāhu ‘Alayhi Wa Sallam said:
“A woman who dies when her husband is pleased with her, will enter Jannāh.”
(Tirmidhi)
