Arabian Business StartUp Academy Sharjah Series launches under the patronage of HH Sheikha Jawaher Bint Mohammad Al Qasimi, Wife of the Ruler of Sharjah

The Sharjah Business Women Council (SBWC) and Arabian Business StartUp have partnered on a quarterly educational event for entrepreneurs featuring a panel discussion in addition to special expert sessions on a focused topic.

Ameera-Binkaram-NewThe Arabian Business StartUp Academy Sharjah Series is organised under the patronage of Her Highness Sheikha Jawaher Bint Mohammad Al Qasimi, Wife of the Ruler of Sharjah, UAE Chairperson of Nama Women Establishment, Founder and Patron of SBWC.

Hosted at the Executive Office of Her Highness, the inaugural Arabian Business StartUp Academy Sharjah Series event, the first of four to be held this year, will take place on Wednesday, 30 March.

The official programme will kick off at 10.00am with an opening address by HE Ameera Binkaram, SBWC Chairperson.

The keynote speech of the opening ceremony will be delivered by His Excellency Ibrahim Al Mansoori, COO of the Khalifa Fund for Enterprise Development.

The theme of the event is How to Overcome Funding Challenges for Start-ups and SMEs.

The panel discussion to follow will feature accomplished business leaders sharing their advice on how to secure funds for launching and growing businesses.

The panelists will include Shayma Fawaz, founder of Gossip Desserts, an Emirati-American-European fusion café; Elissa Freiha, co-founder of WOMENA, a Dubai-based women-only angel group; Craig Moore, founder of Beehive, the region’s first peer-to-peer finance platform, and Ibrahim Jaber, co-founder of Venturefin, an equity and loan crowd investing platform.

The ensuing expert sessions will see Magnus Olsson and Mudassir Sheikha, co-founders of Careem, a UAE’s home-grown success story disrupting the region’s transportation sector, as well as Joy Ajlouny and Idriss Al Rifai, co-founders of Fetchr, the first Silicon Valley-funded app in the MENA region, sharing their experience and distilling key best practices for securing start-up finance.

The Arabian Business StartUp Academy Sharjah Series is a joint effort between the Sharjah Business Women Council (SBWC) and ITP Publishing to complement the work being undertaken by the council in growing the entrepreneurial spirit amongst youth, women and businesses of the Emirate of Sharjah.

In addition to serving as an invaluable educational resource, the event will also provide a networking opportunity for the members of SBWC and business leaders of the Emirate of Sharjah and the UAE.
